Craig Easton 2010 Australia

Craig Easton

Craig Easton combines ideas around Hard Edge Abstraction with Pop, Minimalism and Installation practices, looking for that place where conflicting art historical languages might align. The resulting works present abstraction as an open, dynamic language seeking constant negotiation between viewer, artwork and architectural space, and revealing the possibilities of an expanded language for contemporary Abstract painting.

Utilising a set of deliberately ambiguous motifs, the idea of a purely formal abstraction flickers and slides into one capable of suggesting the spaces of architecture, the body, film, and more recently, the psychological.

Craig Easton is represented by Nellie Caston Gallery in Melbourne, Australia.
