Jesse Marlow

Over the last twelve years Melbourne photographer Jesse Marlow has exhibited extensively both locally and overseas. He has held solo exhibitions at Lake Macquarie Regional Gallery, Crossley & Scott, Alcaston Gallery and various regional indigenous art centres. Marlow has taken part in a number of group shows over the years including Heavenly Creatures (Heide Museum of Art), On Side (Lake Macquarie Regional Gallery), Head On Alternative Portraits Prize (Australian Centre for Photography, Sydney), Australian Rules: Around the Grounds touring exhibition (Monash Gallery of Art, City Museum Melbourne, Mildura Arts Centre, Wangaratta Art Gallery and Australian Embassy, Washington) among others. In 2002, he was the inaugural winner of the Australian Hasselblad X-Pan Masters competition and in 2006 he was selected to participate in the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass in Amsterdam. In 2010 he was one of 45 street photographers from around the world profiled in the book Street Photography Now (Thames & Hudson). In 2003, he published his first book of photographs Centre Bounce: Football from Australia’s Heart, (Hardie Grant Books) and in 2005 he published a book of street photographs titled Wounded (Sling Shot Press). Marlow’s work is held in public and private collections across Australia including Monash Gallery of Art, State Library of Victoria and Australian Parliament House, Canberra.
