September 2009 – NEWSFLASH : i have been selected as one of eight finalists in the toyota community spirit artist travel award 2009!!

i have a print store on my website for anyone interested in purchasing any of my work.

my passion for photography took hold at the tender age of fifteen when my father gave me his old nikkormat slr camera.

i completed a three year diploma of illustrative photography at photography studies college in melbourne, australia in 1997.

a large portion of my work centres around self-portraiture, portraiture, urban landscapes, graveyards, dolls, and the minutiae of every day life.

in 2007 i held my debut solo exhibition alternate worlds at brunswick street gallery (a catalogue of the series is available from my blurb bookstore); and created cover images for vignette press’ mini shots series.

from 17 april 2007 until 16 april 2008 i completed a 366 days project – a self-portrait a day for a year. a selection of the images from the series are featured on my website and 109 images from the series were included in a limited edition self-published book, darkness & light.

my work has been included in two self-published volumes of female self-portraiture featuring a number of international artists: she took her own picture and in her own image , both available through the blurb.com bookstore.

i was selected as a finalist in the corangamarah art prize in 2008 and 2009.

i am currently working on a new series of self-portraiture, interior / exterior, which explores the relationship between self and environment, whether open or contained spaces, and includes a mixture of autobiographical and fictional imagery. through this series, i continue to concentrate on narrative, light and colour, with a certain darkness finding its way into my images.

a work in progress, i hope to develop the series further during 2009 and into 2010 during intended travels to the u.k. and u.s., and exhibit the series as part of a collaborative exhibition featuring ambient sounds recorded by philip ivens.

i self-published a collection of my portraiture entitled enVisage in july 2009; and my work can regularly be seen in local and online group exhibitions and magazines, including an interview on the myartspace blog in may 2009, and an interview in phirebrush in early 2008.

i’m always interested to speak with people who are passionate about photography, writing, film, music and art in general; and am open to offers of collaboration.

if you see my work and think my style would be suited to a group exhibition you are organising, a magazine you may be putting together, might fit with some writing you are doing, or might suit a CD cover for yourself / your band, please contact me. i am also willing to consider offers of gallery representation.
