Media: Photography, Screen-based
Clare Rae, born 1981, lives and works in Melbourne, Australia. Since completing Honours in Fine Art in at RMIT , Clare has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions. Her practice explores gender and identity performance; a gentle testing of physical boundaries and limitations is approached via a child-like exploration of the physical environment. Clare works with photography and video to further interrogate the spectator/surveyed dynamic.
Clare’s work was awarded an honourable mention in the 2010 Bowness prize at the Monash Gallery of Art, and in 2009 she won the Centre for Contemporary Photography Colour Factory Award.
