Opening Launch Thursday 6th November 6.00pm – 9.00pm

At The Vanishing Point – Contemporary Art and exhibition Curator, Mitra Jovanovic, invite artists to propose work for the exhibition Road:Rode , to be held from 6th – 16th November 2008. Road:Rode is the third exhibition in ATVPs Emerging Curator Mentorship Program and is part of the Eighth Annual International Bicycle Film Festival Sydney 2008.

Road:Rode

From Old English rād (riding, hostile incursion)
Proto-Germanic *ridanan (to ride)
Proto-Indo-European *reidh (to ride)
Noun Road (plural roads)
A narrow strip of land made suitable for travel between places. Modern roads are usually paved to accommodate wheeled vehicles. By extension, the path or route one takes; an effort.

ATVP is currently calling for proposals from artists in response to the exhibition title and/or the bicycle as a means of transport, recreation, sustainable practice and culture for the exhibition Road:Rode. The exhibition aims to bring the diverse cycling community together in a cultural and artistic expression of what it means to ride a bike.

The International Bicycle Film Festival celebrates the culture of the bicycle and is held in over 15 cities worldwide including Sydney, Melbourne, Tokyo, New York, LA, Milano and London. In Sydney the festival is hosted by BikeSydney, a not-for-profit advocacy organisation. The festival is a celebration of bikes through the mediums of film, art and music and the Bicycle Film Festival Sydney 2007 was attended by up to 100,000 people.

Road:Rode is sponsored by BikeSydney. No exhibition fees will apply.
