Spencer Finch
As if the sea should part and show a further sea
Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA)
Finch will produce a new site-specific work for the Queensland Art Gallery’s Gibson entry — transforming the glass corridor into a giant light filter that shifts Brisbane’s sunlight to match that of another location. A group of works on paper and light installations will also be on display in the Media Gallery in GoMA. Finch has exhibited extensively in the United States and United Kingdom and will have his first Australian exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art.
Publication
A limited-edition 56-page illustrated catalogue accompanies the exhibition. Each copy contains a unique insert produced by the artist in the garden of Emily Dickinson’s house. The ‘Spencer Finch: As if the sea should part and show a further sea’ exhibition catalogue is be available from the Gallery Store or online
