Wall Works

Helen Smith and Jeremy Kirwan-Ward

Art Gallery of Western Australia

Monday 30 March 2009 to Sunday 31 January 2010
Opening Monday 30 March 2009 Standard gallery operating hours.
These two well-known and highly regarded Perth based artists will create an art work in situ during the week of 30 March to 3 April 2009. Visitors will be able to see the wall work being installed.

The work creates an architectural intervention in the visitors’ area between Galleries One and Two. It references both traditional and contemporary notions of beauty and nostalgia. A combination of wall paper and hard edged painting will be applied directly on the gallery walls, resulting in a work that can be read as both a quasi-painting and a domestic interior.

Helen Smith is a member of the AC4CA group of artists responsible for public art projects using various buildings in Fremantle.

On display until 31 January 2010
