MCA Collection: New Acquisitions

MCA - Museum of Contemporary Art

Tuesday 28 July 2009 to Sunday 31 January 2010
New Acquisitions 2009 showcases artworks acquired into the MCA’s permanent collection over the past 12 months. Selected by MCA Curators, the exhibition presents recent works by some of Australia’s most exciting living artists.

Highlights of New Acquisitions 2009 include Benjamin Armstrong’s surreal glass and wax sculptures; satirical works on paper by Aleks Danko; Newell Harry’s playful assemblage featuring canvas, votive objects and fairy lights; and a sculptural diorama by Danie Mellor.

Also presented is a significant new acquisition by respected Chilean-born Australian artist Juan Davila, whose 360 degree ‘in-the-round’ oil painting allows visitors to experience an uninterrupted panorama of Santiago, Chile.
