Melbourne artist Joey North's new work is a body of sculpture in reclaimed timber and found objects .

Since North’s last solo outing 2 years ago his attention has shifted from the forms of the man made and the maritime to representing the raw power of the natural elements and the relationships between them. This recent body of work was created in a short space of time, instinctually, reflecting North’s concern with our culture’s disconnection from old ways of knowing and living in harmony with the environment and ourselves.

North’s inspiration for these large and very tactile works come from his direct experiences, “the sensation of being physically connected to the earth, planted through bare feet …the sensation of being immersed in saltwater, the pure joy of a body in motion…the dance between gravity and flight every time I take a step… “
