Big: Sydney’s small studios

Object Gallery

Friday 30 July 2010 to Sunday 17 October 2010
Big: Sydney’s small studios is a photographic exhibition of pocket-sized creative spaces in Sydney. Big does not offer a glimpse of what these studios might become, it is a celebration of what they are – all that is romantic, cool and clever. It is all about the next small thing.

Big: Sydney’s small studios is part of object Gallery’s Spring Series

Participating designers and studios: Alex Miles, Alphabet, Daniel Malecki, Future Classic, Justin Fox, Kevin Tran, Leuver Design, Naughtyfish, One8One7, Paul Tooth, Stephen Goddard Design, We Buy Your Kids.

Sydney has a network of small, smart and truly independent studios influencing the design landscape. Big uncovers some of these studios and takes us inside. Quirky, cramped, elegant, but always inspiring, Sydney’s small studios are full of ideas and spirit.

Designer Stephen Goddard and photographer Keith Saunders have captured the studios and designers, together with the stories, choices and philosophies that drive them. Ideally exhibited in Object’s intimate Project Space, Big does not offer a glimpse of what these studios might become, it is a celebration of what they are – all that is romantic, cool and clever.

Big is all about the next small thing.

Part of Sydney Design Festival 2010, presented by the Powerhouse Museum.
