Blue

Object Gallery

Friday 30 July 2010 to Sunday 29 August 2010
Curated by Kylie Johnston, Object’s Gallery & Retail Manager and Annette Mauer, Object’s Learning Coordinator, Blue is an exhibition of work by nine contemporary Australian makers. This group of artists, craftspeople and designers were invited to create a body of work or installation in response to familiar ‘blue’ phrases.

Blue is a colour loaded with meaning. It is rich in social, cultural, political and psychological significance and can symbolize a diverse range of human emotions.

Expressions such as ‘into the blue’, ‘the moody blues’ and ‘something borrowed, something blue’ have been paired with practitioners who, through a range of mediums, will interpret these narratives.

Exhibitors: Emma Davies, Brenda Factor, Honor Freeman, Brenden Scott French, Lucille Martin, Nicholas Jones, Mel Robson, Gerry Wedd and Melinda Young.

Part of Sydney Design Festival 2010, presented by the Powerhouse Museum.
