fortyfivedownstairs will be transformed using large scale collaborative pieces and individual artwork from the studios’ young artists. The space will become an evocative sensory experience through the artists’ creative interpretations of what exactly it is we keep tucked away in our garden sheds.

Expect to find out a little about the beautiful, the surreal and even the seamier side of ourselves in this innovative use of exhibition space.
After the success of the 2009 Out of My Head exhibition the Artful Dodgers Studios are now working towards a multi artform installation with a fantasy garden theme. Responses to the theme are many and varied as each artist interprets and translates it into their artform including vibrant graffiti covered garden sheds, amorphous larger than life alien plant forms and the ‘museum of natural oddities’ – a modern take on scientific and botanical illustrations with accompanying descriptions.
The Artful Dodgers Studios (www.artfuldodgers.tv) are a community cultural development program run by Jesuit Social Services. The Studios have been operating continuously since 1995. The Studios provide young people (15 – 28) with the opportunity to develop artistic skills within a professional community cultural development framework. They work across a range of art forms including visual arts, multimedia and music and recording.
