Inklusion
Jamie Folan
Brunswick Street Gallery
The works in “Inklusion” are a direct progression and rejection of my previous outings. They have brought about a level of peace between the engineer and the artist that live in my head.
A year ago I was feeling confused by my use of color and when a commercial gallery owner suggested I go to “Freedom Furniture” and check out this years “colors”. I thought ”F*@ % that!”, and turned to black and white. Confusion fell away … working with lines satisfied my Inner Engineer. Building, shaping and forming, the pens on paper felt natural and flowed. It grew into “Inklusion”
Images printed from plates; old book illustrations, posters and money have always intrigued me and have been a big influence on this exhibition. I have always been fascinated by the bank notes in different countries. There is a magic in the way money appears, pictures made from lines built on each other to form images. Art given value. I was going to call this exhibit “money from different worlds” but didn’t.
“Inklusion” is made up of originals and limited edition prints framed and unframed as the nature and root of the exhibit is in printing. Feel free to buy them, preferably with local currency from this planet.
