The Coming Community

Bus Projects

Tuesday 31 May 2011 to Saturday 18 June 2011
The Coming Community is a performance by Berlin based contemporary dancer and voguer Justin Francis Kennedy incorporating a customised puffer jacket.

The jacket was commissioned by a member of DownClub.net, an online fetish community, to be heavily oversized and overfilled to his specifications (XXXL size and overfilled with over 20 kgs of goose down).

The performance is based on the amateur videos uploaded by users of the site. The performance first took place at Future Gallery for Post Internet Survival Guide, curated by Katja Novitskova and Mike Ruiz, where patrons were encouraged to wear the jacket as they viewed the exhibition. The jacket was returned to the community at the end of the exhibition. The video will be shown at P.P.O.W. Gallery, New York at the same time it is played at BUS Gallery for the release of K48 Issue 8, AbraK48dabra.
