Noël Skrzypczak: Talking to Strangers

This exhibition develops the artist’s interest in the material qualities of paint and its powerful potential to express abstract experience. Using paint, glass and soap, among other materials, Skrzypczak creates richly-textured organic forms, which resonate with allusions to the natural world, the body and the ever-changing landscape of the psyche.

A contemporary artist based in Melbourne, Noël Skrzypczak is known for her large-scale abstract wall paintings, distinguished by their vivid pigments and flowing forms. Her works extend the limits of painting through their engagement with the architectural space and through the unique process of their making.

From 2007 to 2008 Skrzypczak was a studio artist at Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne. She recently undertook a major public commission for the lobby of the Crown Metropol Hotel, Melbourne.
