Youse

dianne tanzer gallery + projects

Saturday 25 June 2011 to Saturday 16 July 2011
Shaun O'Connor's solo exhibition entitled Youse sees the artist continue his ongoing meditation on temporary signs, inscriptions and behaviors that activate public space.

Anonymous scrawlings of amateur graffiti writers, pseudo gang monikers, police arrest sheets, discarded prayers and crude blue collar handbill advertising serve as starting points for a series of meticulously modeled sculptures and studies on paper.

Works in this exhibition pose astute reflections on the mark making habits of people and the minor histories of the various city environs in which O’Connor has lived and worked in to date.
