MARIE HAGERTY
Karen Woodbury Gallery
Hagerty’s paintings have been described as oscillating between the figurative and the abstract as forms appear familiar yet also indistinguishable. Hagerty’s paintings consist of abstract harmonious imagery with bold planes, overlapping shapes and layers. Hagerty’s seductive and smooth surfaces entice the viewer into her sophisticated compositions and engage with the process of painting and its transportive powers. Hagerty’s conglomerate shapes are manipulated through shading and line work to convey a t three-dimensional quality.
