A second glance: responding to the MGA collection. A Melbourne Girls Grammar project

Monash Gallery of Art

Wednesday 24 August 2011 to Sunday 18 September 2011
'A second glance: responding to portraits in the MGA Collection. A Melbourne Girls Grammar project' saw 51 year 10 & 11 students visit Monash Gallery of Art to look at a selection of portraits from the MGA collection.

The works were selected by Melbourne Girls Grammer School’s artist-in-residence Georgia Metaxas (whose work is also represented in the MGA collection), the portraits covered a wide-range of portrait types including the self-portrait, candid portraiture and environmental portraiture.

The assignment was set: the students were to select one image the had seen from the collection and respond to it with a portrait of their own.

Come along and see the wonderful results!
