These unsettling, sometimes sexually graphic but also poignant and emotionally revelatory images are drawn from informal portrait (and self-portrait) sihoots over the past four years which Ms. Dooney used as source material for her iconic, large-scale glossy, enamel-on-board paintings depicting powerful, empowered, sexy women – her dress-up-doll-like Dangerous Career Babes – as well as more recent oil-on-canvas portraits of sex workers and ‘adult entertainers’. This will be the first time Ms. Dooney has exhibited works in a medium other than painting.

Named by Vogue Australia as one of Australia’s rising international stars, her early enamel paintings were a highlight of a recent auction of Australian contemporary art at Christie’s in London.
