Xstrata Percival Portrait Award 2008 is a celebration of art in Townsville, and will once again be indicative of the great and varied talents of artists within the region. An overwhelming success last year, the Percival puts on display some of Townsville’s most colourful characters as captured by some of the region’s most talented artists.
Selection and judging have now been finalised. Elizabeth Cross has made a judge’s selection of 35 works, and awarded the 6 prizes on offer. The prize winners were:

Artist, writer, and curator Elizabeth Cross was the 2008 judge for Xstrata Percival Portrait Award. Ms Cross writes regularly for art publications, was the judge for the 2005 Dobell Drawing Prize, the curator of the Edvard Munch exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria, and has a special interest in portraiture.
