Supernatural

Supernatural is an exhibition of paintings by Heidi Yardley. The exhibition explores uncanny events and each painting has the potential for multiple readings. There is a suggestion of ritual, the occult, magic tricks and theatre. We are unable to tell if something truly supernatural or even macabre is occurring in the paintings or if they document a play performed by actors in costumes. The images resonate with a quiet intensity, with points of luminosity glowing against the inky blacks from which the figures emerge as if under a spotlight.
