fortyfivedownstairs is an independent Melbourne based theatre and gallery located in Flinders Lane in the CBD ; a cultural destination for standout emerging and established artists and performers and their audiences.

fortyfivedownstairs was established in 2002 to provide an affordable and supportive inner city venue for theatre performances, music and exhibitions by a wide range of artists and to show work of excellence to local, interstate and overseas audiences.

We have two gallery spaces, one small and beautiful, one large and magnificent. Our exhibitions change bi-weekly and vary widely in medium and style whilst retaining a high level of quality and a consistent curatorial direction.
