Wool Shed gallery
The original wool shed, built in 1854 in a prime location on the banks of the River Murray at Mannum, has been completely renovated, and reopened as an art gallery in 2004.
The Wool Shed Gallery features paintings and prints by some of Australia’s most renowned artists, contemporary Aboriginal artists, as well as a fine range of mid-career artists and emerging talents.
All the artists are ‘listed’, that is, they are included in one or more of the major reference works: McCulloch’s Encyclopedia of Australian Art, Germaine’s Artists and Galleries of Australia, and Aboriginal Artist Dictionary of Biographies.
Also Available at the Wool Shed Gallery are fine, collectable examples of Australian pottery, mainly dating from the 1930s. Principal potteries represented include Bennett (Adelaide), Remued (Premier, Victoria) and John Campbell (Tasmania). Prices range from $35 for a small Remued twist basket, to $200 for a John Campbell vase. A listing of items currently available will be forwarded on request.
All works are available for purchase. Selected items of furniture, pottery and books are also on display.
