Conny Dietzschold Gallery
Established in 1989 in Cologne, Conny Dietzschold Gallery represents emerging, mid-career and established artists. The programme of the gallery over the past twenty-two years has been international contemporary art, with a focus on new tendencies in conceptual, concrete and constructive art. The range of work exhibited includes painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video and new media.
The first gallery opened in Cologne, where the program included exhibitions of internationally known Cologne-based artists, such as Leo Erb and Günther Uecker from the Zero Group, alongside other artists working in concrete and constructive art, such as new York artists Joe Barnes and James Howell.
From 1997 Conny Dietzschold started to organize an increasing number of Australian exhibitions and by 1999 Dietzschold’s activities in Cologne were specialised in contemporary art from Australia and New Zealand only. This program included some of the region’s most influential and well respected contemporary artists, such as Mike Parr, Tracey Moffatt, John Nixon, Fiona Tan, Jenny Watson and Robert Owen.
The Sydney gallery was established in October 2001 alongside nine other Australian and International Galleries at Danks Street, Waterloo. Most of the exhibitions held here are solo or joint exhibitions giving the artist an opportunity to exhibit the culmination of the main new directions in their practice over the previous 2 years. The international scope of both galleries creates a dynamic cultural exchange, encouraging dialogue between Europe and Australia and providing a platform for art from across the world to interrelate. In June 2011 the gallery marked its 10 Year Anniversary in Sydney with a relocation to 99 Crown Street.
