Galeria Carles Taché

Galeria Carles Taché, founded and directed since 1986 by Carles Taché (Barcelona, 1947) is located in Consell de Cent street in Barcelona´s center; this street has emerged as compulsory center for Spanish and foreign contemporary art lovers.
The gallery is member of the Art Barcelona Association (with Carles Taché as president for eight years).
On an international scale, it has participated in the most important contemporary art fairs such as: FIAC (Paris), Art Cologne, Chicago Art Fair, ARCO (Madrid), Art Brussels, MACO (México), KIAF (Corea) or ShContemporary (Shanghai), amongst others. The gallery also regularly collaborates with other galleries, institutions, foundations and both national and international museums.

Art editions have also been accomplished during the lifetime of the gallery, that is deeply commited to it. We must remark the edition of the book l´Estació (1984) by Antoni Tàpies and J.V.Foix; the Llull-Tàpies book (1985) co-edited together with Pere Gimferrer and Father Batllori; the Li (1988) book, by Jaume Plensa and José Ferrero; the Llibre de vidre book by Jaume Plensa and Toni Tàpies (1982); La Neige Rouge (1991) by Jaume Plensa; Sombreros para Alicia (1992), by Eduardo Arroyo and Julián Ríos; the Saura Erótica book by Antonio Saura and the monographs of Jannis Kounellis, Cornelia Parker and Sean Scully.

Since its opening, the gallery has been distinguished with several awards such as the 1987 and 2000 ACCA awards by the Art Critics Association, and the 1990 City of Barcelona Award.

Carles Taché has been member of the Committee of ARCO (Madrid´s International Contemporary Art Fair) from 1991 to 1993, and on the 2000 and 2001 editions. He has also been member of the Trust Board of the Tàpies Foundation in Barcelona since its creation in 1984 to 1996. Carles Taché has been invited professor in the Cultural Management master seminars of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya and in the postgraduate courses of the Universitat de Girona. Currently he collaborates with the Universitat de Barcelona leading a project of some students at the Master in Advanced Studies in Art History.
