Defiance Gallery

Right from the outset, 13 years ago, Defiance Gallery has made a mark as a stimulating and innovative exhibition space for painters and sculptors. The gallery exhibits painting, sculpture and works on paper. Gallery artists exhibit in group shows and have solo exhibitions every other year. Defiance also has annual exhibitions for gallery artists and invited artists which include the Landscape Show, the Drawing Show and the Miniature Sculpture show. In addition to this Defiance Gallery curates exhibitions of painting and sculpture by gallery artists and invited artists at the Seymour Theatre throughout the year.

The artists who exhibit with Defiance Gallery range from experienced mid career artists to promising newcomers. The gallery is proud to represent such accomplished artists as Lyndon Dadswell, Ron Robertson-Swann, Madeleine Halliday and Peter Godwin and to foster emerging and exciting talents.

Defiance Gallery has strived to gain recognition for sculpture as a mainstream visual art form in Australia. Through imaginative projects, enthusiasm and wholehearted encouragement of a wide range of sculptors the gallery has become a hub for sculpture in Sydney and promoted an interest in sculpture in the wider public.
