Moonah Arts Centre
The Moonah Arts Centre, the focus of Glenorchy City Council’s Arts & Cultural Development Program, has been operating since 1992. Significant growth has occurred over this period, as well as considerable development in community support and involvement. Over 16,000 people have participated in an arts or cultural activity or event, or sought information and resources through the Moonah Arts Centre Arts & Cultural Development Program during the last two years.
The Moonah Arts Centre offers a wide variety of programs including :
- exhibitions,
- concerts,
- special events
- school holiday workshops,
- wide-ranging arts & cultural workshops,
- artist forums,
- artist in residence programs,
and services including
- support and referral on arts funding,
- information on contracts
- general advocacy information for artists.
The Moonah Arts Centre has been at the forefront in developing broad community cultural development projects for the City of Glenorchy, from community arts projects to public art, murals, film projects, special events and concerts.
The Centre’s growing focus is on offering further participatory activities for the community, and broadening opportunities for people to work with artists and to develop their own creative responses and expression. We hold a number of diverse workshops for both adults and children. This would not have been possible without the skills and experience of the arts workers employed to implement these new and challenging workshops.
