Gallery 139

Gallery 139 is a professionally run commercial gallery with an emphasis on developing and emerging Adelaide based artists.

One of our main criteria is that we love the art we will be offering and on that basis we are currently putting together an exciting stable of young motivated and talented artists for exhibitions. Most visual art mediums will be included in our schedule.

Aim One is to work with, help develop and promote local talent. Aim Two is to sell lots of superb artworks at affordable prices! Aim Three is to be one of the best commercial galleries in Australia.

139 is in a superb heritage building in the inner eastern Adelaide suburb of Stepney. The shop space was used as a hardware store from the mid 1920’s until 1992. The building has been undergoing a transformation to suit a modern gallery space but still highlighting many of its original features, like high ceilings, tiled floor and a unique basement gallery that has to be seen to be believed.

We offer three distinct gallery spaces and will be running exhibitions in all space concurrently.

139 has come about by a need noticed by indigenous art specialist Tony Bond of AP Bond Art Dealer and 139 founder who has noticed a lack of first class commercial gallery space for Adelaide’s best emerging artists. 139 totally addresses this need and the existing Unley gallery provides twelve years of experience and an excellent South Australian and national client base.

Accessibility
Gallery 139 does not have specific wheelchair access, and there is a small step to get into the gallery however wheelchairs have been through the gallery with minimum difficulty. Unfortunately our downstairs gallery is inaccessible as the stairs leading down are very steep.
