Experimental Art Foundation

Thirty four years of contemporary art, art space and bookshop – sixteen years at the Lion Arts Centre, the heart of Adelaide’s West End Arts District.

The Experimental Art Foundation incorporates a gallery space, bookshop and artists studios. The EAF curates its exhibition program to represent new work that expands current debates and ideas in contemporary art and culture. Melentie Pandilovski is the EAF ’s 8th Organisational and Artistic Director.

The contemporary visual arts sector that the Experimental Art Foundation supports, promotes, and seeks to stimulate includes practices that are inter-disciplinary and research-driven and have various gallery, project and urban outcomes.

The EAF is a not-for-profit incorporated association. It receives financial support from the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body, and the South Australian Government through Arts SA. The EAF is also supported by the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, State and Territory Governments. Policy is determined by Council. There are 13 positions available on Council of which 9 are Elected from the membership at the Annual General Meeting. One of these positions is dedicated to a representative from the visual arts student body in South Australia. The remaining positions are appointed from the permanent staff, who are represented proportionately to Elected members (to a maximum of 4).
