Art House Design Gallery

New gallery melds art and design in the heart of the suburbs. It might be the last thing you would expect to find in the tiny light industrial pocket of Somerton Park, but the art house™ design gallery is indeed a find.

For Matthew Shute, (Director) the concept of bringing together art and furniture is something that fulfills two of his personal passions.

“Painting, drawing, sculpting and using my hands to make beautiful furniture have been preoccupations for me as far back as I can remember,” Shute says.

“To be able to bring all this together in one space for people is just a very enjoyable thing.

“The artists we are showing are inspirational because they are all people who have followed their passion, some are self-taught and most have forged their careers by being dogged in their pursuit of artistic and creative inspiration.”

It is something Shute can relate to. Having successfully built his reputation for fine quality and design in his personalised furniture range, he is now developing his own talents as an artist and sculptor.

“For me, beauty and the intellectual stimulation of art and design are important parts of a person’s living landscape. Our gallery creates the feeling of a living space, but one enhanced by paintings, sculpture and furnishings that are not only functional but aesthetically pleasing as well.”
