Cowwarr Art Space
Cowwarr Art Space commenced operating in 1993 as an independent multi-arts Gippsland Gallery. The large two story Federation Arts & Craft Pise constructed Butter Factory, built in 1918, is listed with the National Trust and Heritage Victoria. It has been extensively and sensitively renovated and transformed to a stunning array of interior spaces to accommodate an exhibition space, an artist’s residential studio, a coffee bar and a family residence. The extensive park like grounds contains the Garden Studio and the Australian Marble Sculpture Studio.
The innovative aspect of the Cowwarr Art Space is the range of activities provided for; exhibitions, music, performance, seminars & workshops are all part of the program initiated by the owner/director Carolyn Crossley and her partner sculptor Clive Murray-White.
Clive is a nationally renowned sculptor and his works are included in many corporate collections and the National Gallery of Victoria and the National Gallery of Australia. Most notably the Alfred Felton Centenary Sculpture Felton Bequest at the NGVI in Melbourne.
The Cowwarr Art Spaces has a fine reputation for consistently displaying high quality contemporary art. It is rapidly becoming one of the regions best loved destinations where you can sample the great local wines and relax with an espresso coffee at the Artist’s Bar.
