Meschac Gaba: Museum of Contemporary African Art
Tate Modern
A propaganda film celebrating heroic coal miners, Enthusiasm: Symphony of the Donbass (1931) carried Soviet director Dziga Vertov's experimentalism into the new realm of sound. With its cacophony of toot-tooting, chug-chugging, and ding-a-linging, Enthusiasm prefigured musique concrete, anticipating John Cage by some thirty years. A joint project with OtherFilm.
