Artabase is dedicated to the promotion and archiving of the arts. We assist art collectors, reviewers, curators, agents, academics, organisations, fans and archivists by providing a one stop shop for staying up to date both with current arts events and activities, as well as the history behind them.
In addition to providing artists, curators and galleries with the facilities to upload their own current exhibitions, and to profile their work, we are also developing tools for other art organisations which will facilitate their digital archiving of historical artistic culture. Research groups will be able to profile their work whilst contributing information to a lasting online archive of art. Links to other repositories and profiles of research or archival projects will soon be available on Artabase.
We also assist art fans and reviewers by offering Creative Commons licensing options on images which are uploaded to our website. This provides visitors to our website with an instant indication of the re-use rights available on any images they are interested in, thus making it easier to display an image on another website, or in a research article, or even in new artistic, appropriative works, or even for commercial purposes, without first confirming permission from the artist — where the artist has indicated that those re-use rights are freely available.
Our Exhibitions listings provide collectors, fans, reviewers, curators and other artists with an easy, free way to discover what is coming up in galleries around the world. By choosing a Country, State/Region and local Arts Precinct, it is possible to find out what is on in the local vicinity as well, or in a new local area whilst traveling in other cultures. Artabase is an exciting first stop for planning one’s art diary.
